A team of interdisciplinary students successfully achieved 3rd Place in the Business Plan Competition at the Management Festival UMP 2026 held on April 12, 2026. The competition was organized by HMPS Manajemen S1 Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto.

The team presented an innovative project entitled:

“BIOSHELL: Smart Green Material Based on Durian Peel Biochar and Shrimp Shell Chitosan for Circular Solutions in Soil Pollution Control”

The project focuses on developing an environmentally friendly material made from agricultural and marine waste, specifically durian peel biochar and shrimp shell chitosan. Through the concept of a circular economy, BIOSHELL is designed as a sustainable solution for controlling soil pollution while simultaneously utilizing organic waste with high economic value.

This innovation demonstrates how scientific research and business strategy can be integrated to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable development.

The team members consisted of students from different academic backgrounds:

  1. Raynor Raazan Zaidan (Bachelor of Chemistry)
  2. Aldo Alfarel Mangaparang (Bachelor of Chemistry)
  3. Febiola Irashai Siti Mawla Y. (Bachelor of Chemistry)
  4. Andreas Bakara Sitanggang (Bachelor of Economics)
  5. Clarisa Putri Maharani (Bachelor of Agribusiness)

Their achievement highlights the importance of collaboration across disciplines in generating innovative and impactful ideas for society and the environment.

The team expressed gratitude for the support, guidance, and opportunity provided throughout the competition process. They hope that BIOSHELL can continue to be developed into a real solution contributing to environmental sustainability in Indonesia.
