SEMARANG – The Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM), Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), successfully organized an international lecture series under the Lecturer Online in UNDIP Global Classroom program. The event featured Prof. Dr. Elif Çalışkan Salihi from Marmara University, Türkiye, with Prof. Yayuk Astuti serving as the discussant.
The lecture series was conducted online in two sessions during May 2026. The first session, held on May 14, 2026, focused on “Green and Sustainable Production: Aerogels for Innovative Drug Delivery.” Prof. Elif explained the potential of aerogels, highly porous and lightweight materials, as environmentally friendly drug delivery systems that can improve the effectiveness of medical treatments.
The second session took place on May 21, 2026 and discussed “Green and Sustainable Production: A Circular Economy Approach for Pharmaceutical Nanocarriers.” In this session, Prof. Elif highlighted how circular economy principles can be applied in the production of pharmaceutical nanocarriers by reducing waste, reusing materials, and promoting sustainable manufacturing practices.
The program attracted students, lecturers, and researchers who actively participated in the discussions. The interactive question-and-answer sessions provided valuable insights into green material synthesis and the challenges of implementing sustainable technologies on an industrial scale.
Through this activity, participants gained a deeper understanding of how green chemistry can contribute to future healthcare technologies and sustainable industrial development.
The event reflects UNDIP’s commitment to strengthening international collaboration and supporting innovative research that contributes to environmental sustainability and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
